Sarah Jensen was selected as Miss of Washington in August of 2017. She competed at the national pageant in Orlando, Florida this past November and was crowned the very first Miss of America.
Sarah is an elementary education major at Washington State University. She will graduate with honors in May of 2018. Sarah is passionate about education and music; she is an accomplished student and pianist. During her time at Washington State University, Sarah has been a member of Chi Omega sorority and Kappa Delta Pi (an honor society for the top 20% of education majors). She is often found volunteering in classrooms or working as a lead swim instructor at the Pullman Aquatic Center.
Sarah’s journey with American Pageants began in 2011 when she competed for the title of Miss Teen of Idaho; she did not win, but she was named a Top 6 Merit Finalist. Competing at Miss Teen of Idaho 2011 was the beginning of an incredible journey for Sarah. Although she did not compete for another title until last August, she did volunteer at a few state programs between the years of 2011 and 2017. Sarah loves American Pageants because of the organization’s accent on achievement, empowering message, and commitment to service.
In her spare time, Sarah enjoys crafting, reading, exercising, and adventuring outdoors. She also loves spending time with family and friends. Sarah is the daughter of Margaret and John Jensen and the younger sister of Paige and Turner Jensen.
As a future educator, Sarah is passionate about inclusion and equity. Throughout the year, she will serve as an inclusion ambassador for American Pageants and the Special Olympics. She looks forward to more appearances, service opportunities, and memories with her sister queens and directors.
